Who is Stephen Huey?

The header photo was snapped by me  in Rockland, Maine.  A  mile-long path of rocks forms a breakwater which leads to a lighthouse at the edge of the harbor.   Check out plenty more pictures of this place with Google Images.

I was born in Wharton, Texas and grew up a few minutes down the road from there in El Campo.  By the end of the 80’s, my parents had whisked us away to Nigeria, and I lived in 3 cities over the years:  Ogbomosho, Lagos and Jos.  After high school at Hillcrest, I returned to Texas to attend Rice University and have worked as a software developer in Houston ever since, but I do my best to find old friends in far-flung corners of the globe whenever possible!

One of the thoughts I try to keep in mind is this brazen claim made by Jesus a couple millenia ago:

I have come so that you may have life, and have it abundantly.  I am the good shepherd, and I give up my life for you, my sheep!

He’s emphasizing that he offers us a full life, so in no way does he intend to take away any enjoyment from our life.  Instead, Jesus wants us to have the best life possible, which is better than we can imagine.  He goes out of his way to take care of us and give us this abundant life.

Later on, after Jesus died and came back to life, he left us with this fascinating picture:

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me.
